Nation-wide strike: No untoward incidents

September 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated March 28, 2016 03:09 pm IST - YADGIR:

The countrywide bandh called by various trade unions received a mixed response in Yadgir district on Wednesday. While the bandh was total in Surpur and Shahapur taluks, in Yadgir the bandh had very little impact on the normal life with all the shops, hotels and business establishments remaining open. However, the movement of public and private transport was affected due to the withdrawal of the mofussil and city services by the NEKRTC and autorickshaws remaining off the road.

Trade Unions, including CITU, workers union of NEKRTC and various student organisations, held protests and took out rallies across the district.

“The bandh was peaceful and no untoward incidents occurred,” Superintendent of Police Vinayaka Patil said and added that police personnel of five platoons of District Reserve and one platoon of Karnataka State Reserve Police were deployed for security.
