Murder accused escapes from police in Belthangady

A man accused of murdering his wife has escaped while being taken for a medical test in Belthangady on Monday. The police said Satish had pushed two constables at a hospital and slipped out of the hospital.

Satish is accused of setting on fire his wife, Manjushree, at their house in Adilu near Dharmasthala on January 16.

Based on the complaint by Manjushree’s family, and evidence of kerosene having been poured over the body, the husband was arrested.

The couple had eloped and married three months before the incident, said the police.

Deer skin seized

Five persons have been arrested at Sentiyar near Kadaba for attempting to sell a deer skin on Monday, said the police.
