September 03, 2014 09:56 am | Updated 09:56 am IST - MANGALORE:

Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has proposed to develop a residential layout at Bajpe on a 7-acre land, according to its commissioner Mohammad Nazeer.

He told The Hindu that the MUDA has sent a proposal to the government to acquire seven acres of private land for the purpose. About 100 sites could be formed in the layout.

The commissioner said that it has been proposed to acquire the land at an estimated cost of Rs. 7 crore on the basis of the government’s guidance value and not market value. The vacant land has been identified and MUDA is hopeful of getting the land.

Mr. Nazeer said that the layout at Bajpe has been proposed in addition to the other two layouts proposed at Konaje and Chelyar.

He said that 145 sites have been proposed on a 13-acre land acquired at Konaje. This proposal is awaiting technical and administrative approvals of the government. As the approvals are expected before this December, bids would be invited later to form the layout.

The commissioner said that estimation is being prepared to develop 500 sites in the first phase, on 46 acres of land of the 72 acres acquired at Chelyar.
