Thimmappa asks Akrama-Sakrama committees to meet every week

Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa on Thursday said the government has directed the Akrama-Sakrama committees at taluk levels to hold weekly meetings for speedy disposal of pending applications.

Mr. Thimmappa was speaking at a meeting of revenue officials here. The committees, headed by area MLAs, can hold meetings even if two members are present, the Minister said.

As in August, 46,470 applications under Form 50 and 29,915 applications under Form 53 of Section 94 of Karnataka Land Revenue Act (regularisation of occupation of certain lands), have been disposed of in Dakshina Kannada, he noted. Since land referred to in some applications come under the deemed forest category, they have temporarily been kept in abeyance.

Meanwhile, 35,577 applications out of 77,814 for regularisation of unauthorised occupation of government land in rural areas for housing purposes under Section 94C of the Land Revenue Act have been granted in the district.

At the same time, 9,309 applications out of 30,872 for regularisation in urban areas under Section 94CC too have been approved, the Minister said. Food and Civil Supplies Minister U.T. Khader, Deputy Commissioner K.G. Jagadeesha and other officials were present.

Mr. Thimmappa distributed title deeds to the beneficiaries of Akrama-Sakrama (in rural areas) scheme under Mangaluru Assembly constituency at a programme in Mudipu. The Minister said title deeds to all eligible applicants would be issued by the year-end.

Dwellers on government lands, who could not submit applications within the due date for some reason, would be allowed to file applications shortly, the Minister added.
