Thee District Road Transport Authority (RTA) decided on January 10 to revise the autorickshaw fare and fix the minimum charge at Rs. 20 and per km rate at Rs.13. The earlier rate was Rs. 25 (minimum rate) and per km rate at Rs. 14.

The revision in fare was taking place due to reduction in the price of petrol, diesel and LPG gas.

Autorickshaw drivers were on a three -day protest and refused to take passengers. The drivers withdrew the protest on Friday following assurance by Mr. Rai that he will look into the issue.

Mr. Ibrahim told reporters on Sunday that he will place facts related to the fare revision before Mr.Rai. "The Minister wants some clarifications about the order, which we will provide," he said.
