Now ‘sakala’ at Mangalore University. The varsity has introduced time-bound delivery of services to help students by bringing some of the services under the Karnataka Guarantee of Services to Citizens Act, 2011 on a direction from the government, according to Vice-Chancellor T. C. Shivashankara Murthy.
Disclosing this at the meeting of the academic council on Saturday the Vice-Chancellor said that eligibility and migration certificates would be issued within three working days and transfer certificates of postgraduate students and students of distance education courses would be issued within seven working days.
Prof. Murthy said that pass certificates and provisional pass certificates would be available in 10 working days and degree certificates within 120 days of the convocation day.
He said that consolidated marks cards and corrected marks cards would be issued within 30 days.
PG admissions
He said admission process and counselling for science postgraduate courses at the university would be held on July 15, and for postgraduate courses of arts on July 16. The counselling and admission process for commerce courses would be held on July 17.
He said counselling and admission process for students who have applied under the government quota for PG courses in degree colleges under the university would be held on July 19.
The last date for applying for various courses would be June 29.
He said the government has approved postgraduate courses to four degree colleges. But the university will inspect if those colleges had infrastructure to start those courses. The colleges are: Pompei college, Aikala (M.Com.); Vivekananda College, Puttur (M.Com. and M.Sc. in Chemistry); St. Philomena College, Puttur (M.Sc. in Mathematics); Alva’s College, Moodbidri (Statistics, Economics, Psychology, Chemistry, Computer Science and M.Com in Insurance and Banking Management) have been g.
Kannada centre
Prof. Murthy said the Kannada Adhyayana Samsthe at the university has been named after poet late S. V. Parameshwara Bhatta. A notification to this effect has been issued.
Their bit for endosulfan fund
Teachers and non-teaching staff at the university and its two constituent colleges have donated Rs. 5.77 lakh to endosulfan victims’ fund recently after pooling in a day’s salary. Vice-Chancellor T. C. Shivashankara Murthy said the amount has been deposited at the DC office.
