Malaria: another Mangalore builder may lose licence

After cancelling the licence of a mall at Bikarnakatte for failing to take precaution to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes , the Mangalore City Corporation is set to cancel the licence of another building under construction at Attavar , said a senior official of the civic body on Monday.

Officials of Mangalore City Corporation inspected eight buildings under construction in Attavar to check if they gave scope for breeding of mosquitoes, causing malaria.

The Hindu that the corporation would take steps to cancel the licence of Sky Court building being constructed by Presidency Builders, as it took no step to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes on the premises.

Mr. Gowda said he along with other team members had visited the same building twice earlier and had warned its authorities.

He said the authorities were told to stop construction work on Monday and take steps to drain out the stagnated water. Steps would be taken to cancel the licence, he said.

Mr. Gowda said the civic body cancelled the building licence of Plama Mall at Bikarnakatte.
