Writer J.H. Narayanaswamy from Hassan said on Sunday that he was hopeful of seeing the end of culture of self-deception or self-delusion, which had developed in the country after Independence.

He was speaking at a function organised by the Zilla Vicharawadi Vedike and Nutana Publications to release “Anavarna”, a book written by Gopal B. Shetty here.

Mr. Narayanaswamy said that India was the only country to have vast diversities and yet retain its unity. Although the country was internally strong, it was being dissipated by the culture of self-deception. Caste system had made the country weak, he said.

The country now needed a religious leader like Vivekananda and a political leader like Subhash Chandra Bose. Socialist leader late Ram Manohar Lohia wanted both the Hindu and Muslim minds in the country to change for the better, Mr. Narayanaswamy said. Writer K.S. Bhagwan, who released the book, presided over the function.
