Kaushik Boloor to represent India in world mixed martial arts event

The first Indian mixed martial artist to fight internationally

Kaushik Boloor will be part of a six-member Indian team for the event in Las Vegas.

Mangaluru-based martial arts expert Kaushik Boloor will represent India in the 2015 IMMAF World Championships of Amateur Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) scheduled between July 6 and 11 at Las Vegas.

Mr. Kaushik is in a six-member athletes team selected to represent the country. The other members include Kantharaj Shankar, Bhoopendra Kumar, Navin R.S. and Shashi Kumar N. from Karnataka and Mohammed Sohail from Telangana.

The MMA is the world’s largest mixed martial arts celebrations. The All India Mixed Martial Arts Association conducted tryouts at four places in the country over a period of eight months to select the Indian team.

India is participating in such a big numbers for the first time, which would be led by Alan “The Bull” Fernandes, team India’s head coach. He is also the first ever MMA fighter from India to fight internationally.

Mr. Kaushik is presently Muay Thai trainer at Ground Sport Fitness in Mangaluru.
