Janata Dal (Secular) workers staged a rasta roko at Hampankatta here on Sunday in support of party's State unit president H.D. Kumaraswamy's fast in Bangalore.
However, with Mr. Kumaraswamy ending his fast at noon, State secretary of the party M.G. Hegde said the BJP should act with more “maturity”. Mr. Hegde said that Janata Dal (S) staged a rasta roko to lend moral support to the former Chief Minister who was on a fast seeking a CBI inquiry into the allegations against him and his family by Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
The party workers blocked traffic at Hampankatta signal for a few minutes. Referring to the recent stand-off between Mr. Kumaraswamy and Mr. Yeddyurappa over truth test at Dharmasthala, Mr. Hegde said that the Bharatiya Janata Party should “stop misleading the people”.

The Bharatiya Janata Party should seek the forgiveness of Mr. Kumaraswamy and his family and apologise to the people of the State, Mr. Hegde said.
As the State secretary of the party, he had given a “jail bharo” call to party workers who were to organise demonstrations at Thokkotu, Farangipet and Gurupura on Monday.
However, in the wake of Mr. Kumaraswamy ending his fast, the demonstrations had been cancelled, Mr. Hegde said.

Leaders of the BJP should focus their attention towards the development of the State, he said.
