For the last few days, Mangalore City Corporation personnel involved in the revision of electoral roll have been working overtime to clear applications, which have nearly flooded the helpdesks. April 7 is the last day for filing applications seeking entry, deletion and correction of names in the voters’ list.
“It is a big task. We are trying our best to finish the work in time,” said Praveen Chandra Karkera, Assistant Returning Officer, overseeing the work of the Election Cell in the Mangalore City Corporation. Around 2,000 forms were submitted at the two helpdesks in Lalbagh and Kadri on Saturday. As many as 1652 forms were submitted on Friday. The helpdesks receive an average 1,000 forms daily since April 2.
Around 30 personnel, including 15 data entry operators, have been working between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on the first floor of the MCC building from the last two days. Forms received at the helpdesks are being sorted out and are given to the sector-level officers. These officers hand over the forms to the block-level officers comprising bill collectors, anganwadi teachers and second division assistants for field level reports.

“These reports are being given in a day’s time and returned here.” The data entry operators have been uploading the cleared forms to the Election Commission Website.
Change
With the increase in the filing of forms, the Election Cell from Saturday has been involved in uploading the submitted forms to the website. “We will update as and when we receive field reports,” Mr. Karkera said.
