The 14 records that were broken in the 75th all-India inter-university athletics meet, which concluded here on Tuesday, may not be recognised by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI), as doping tests were not conducted on the participating athletes.
AFI chief operating officer Manish Kumar told The Hindu from New Delhi that the federation was “worried and concerned” over reports that said doping tests were not conducted at the meet.
Stating that this was a prestigious event from where young talents surfaced, Mr. Manish Kumar said he had sought a report on it and that if the failure to hold doping tests were true, the matter would be placed before the AGM of the federation.

M. Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation (AEF), which co-hosted the event along with Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and Government of Karnataka said NADA had been informed about the event, but its officials had not come to conduct the tests.
He said no doping tests were conducted in most of the previous inter-university meets also.
Among those who set a new meet record in the event was Khushbir Kaur of Punjab University, who had finished third in the 2014 Asian walking championships in Japan.

At the latest meet, she set a record in the 5000m walk.
