He reiterated that he was firm on quitting the BJP and that he had also decided not to contest any election in the future

B. Nagaraj Shetty, who has resigned as Chairman of the Coastal Development Authority and as member of the BJP, has said that he has received invitations from other parties to join them.

Disclosing this at a press conference here on Saturday, he said he had been approached by Janata Dal (Secular) and the newly launched Badavara Shramikara Raithara Congress Party of B. Sriramulu. Mr. Shetty said he would take a decision on his next move in consultation with his advisors and followers. He reiterated that he was firm on quitting the BJP. He said he had also decided not to contest any election in the future.

Mr. Shetty tendered his resignation over the “recent political developments” in the BJP. He had stated earlier that he was unhappy with “communalism and groupism” and the way Cabinet berth was denied to Kundapur MLA Halady Srinivasa Shetty.

Meanwhile, M. Karunakar Shetty, central working committee member of Bunts alias Nadavara Mathr Sangha, said that a protest would be organised against the “insult” meted out to Mr. Srinivasa Shetty. The Kundapur MLA had served his constituency and party with dedication and had never lobbied for any post. The way he was dumped at the last minute was an insult to the people of the coastal region, he said.
