Four taken ill after drinking concoction

Four persons were taken ill after they drank “kashaya”, a drink, made from the bark of a tree at Kelenja in Vitla near here on Saturday. The condition of two persons is critical.

According to Guruprasad, his aunt Dakshayini (52) and her sons Brijesh and Ashwin Kumar, and Kashaiah, worker, drank the concoction around 6 p.m. which caused uneasiness.

It is learnt that the concoction was made from the bark of a wrong tree.

They are being treated in a hospital in Mangalore.
