The Mangaluru South Police on Thursday arrested four more persons in connection with the assault on Manujanth, an insurance agent, at the Forum Fiza Mall here on Wednesday. The police gave the names of the arrested persons as Mohammed Marzook, Faran Farooq, Shareek Faran and Sahal Sabil. On Wednesday, the police arrested two accused.

According to the police, Marzook and four of his college mates were in the food court on the third floor of the mall. Manjunath came to the food court and sat on the table next to the one occupied by the students. Unable to bear with the chat of the students, Manjunath reportedly stared at Marzook, who, in turn, questioned the former’s conduct. Manjunath reportedly told students that this is Hindu Rastra and left the place.

As Manjunath was leaving the food court, senior students of the college joined Marzook and his college mates to confront the former. After forcing Manjunath to repeat his statement and recording it, the students assaulted Manjunath. The students left the place before the police arrived. Lauding the prompt action of the police in arresting those involved in the attack, district in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said that the district administration was committed to maintaining peace in the region. Condemning the attack on insurance agent, State BJP president and MP Nalin Kumar said that the BJP government will take affirmative action against those trying to disturb peace.
