‘Foundation stone for four works shortly’

The foundation stone for three road works of the National Highways Authority of India and the construction of a fisheries harbour in Kulai will be laid in a week, said Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, here on Thursday.

Talking to presspersons, Mr. Kateel said all these three works were sanctioned by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.

Mr. Kateel said the foundation stone will be laid for the Mulky-Kateel-B.C. Road and Melkar-Konaje-Thokkottu road works taken up under the Union government’s Bharatmala Pariyojana.

The work on acquisition of land for the four-laning of road between Kulashekara and Karkala will also start.

The foundation stone will be laid for the fisheries habour in Kulai, which will be constructed at an estimated ₹193 crore. This project will be financed by the Union and the State governments, he said.

Mr. Kateel said Mr. Gadkari has resolved the technical issues stalling the work between B.C. Road and Addahole.

The agency has started the work of constructing 27 culverts and retaining wall. Process has been initiated to acquire 47 hectres of additional land for the work.
