Former junior hockey player killed in accident

Her father also died and her mother is in hospital

Karnataka Bengaluru 07/04/2019 It is with profound sorrow we announce the passing away of Sujatha M Keralli (17 Years) former State Junior hockey player, who met with a road accident today and died on spot in Dharwad. Her father Mr Mallikarjun Keralli who was along with her while crossing the road has suffered a major injury and his condition is critical, who is been treated at KIMS hospital, Dharwad.

A 17-year-old budding hockey player and her father were killed when they were hit by a speeding car while crossing the road near Madanabhavi village on National Highway 4 in Dharwad district on Tuesday.

The deceased, Sujata Keralli, was a former State junior hockey player and was staying in the sports hostel in Mysuru. While Sujata died on the spot, her father Mallikarjun Keralli, 52, succumbed to injuries at the KIMS Hospital in Hubballi.

Sujata’s mother Annapurna has sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dharwad.

According to the police, the trio were on their way to attend a function on a motorcycle when the car hit them and sped away.

The police have recovered the number plate of the car that was found lying near the accident spot and have launched a hunt for the vehicle and the driver.

Superintendent of Police Sangeeta G. and Dy.SP Ramagouda Hatti visited the spot. A case has been registered at Garag station.
