Corporation Bank teams up with Commonwealth to help women

The Commonwealth Secretariat, London, and the Corporation Bank have teamed up to launch a development programme aimed at supporting women entrepreneurs.

A two-day Corporation Bank-Commonwealth Secretariat Youth Enterprise Financing Programme was held in Bangalore on June 6 and 7 in this regard and the participants included Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Programme (SKDRP), NTR Memorial Trust, Drishtee Foundation, and Dhan Foundation.

Corporation Bank, Commonwealth Secretariat, and all the stakeholders signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The programme will be initially piloted across six districts in India (Udupi and Chikmagalur in Karnataka, Madurai in Tamil Nadu, Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh, Sirmaur in Himachal Pradesh and Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Nagar in Uttar Pradesh).

The financing programme aims at acting as a model for other countries across the Commonwealth. Work had commenced on this project across the six pilot locations in India, said a press release issued by the bank.
