Congress worker assaulted

A Congress worker got admitted to hospital after he was assaulted by two persons at Badanidiyur village on Sunday night. In his complaint registered with the Malpe police, Sunil D’Souza, Congress worker, said that a couple of persons, including Sandeep Pavanjegudde, had come near his house at around 11.45 p.m. on Sunday and told him to remove the CCTV cameras installed by him at his house.

When he tried to run, the two beat him up with PVC pipes, Mr. D’Souza said in his complaint. A case has been registered at the Malpe police station. Investigation is on, the police said.

Mr. D’Souza, who got admitted to the District Government Hospital here after the assault, told presspersons on Monday that the local leaders of the BJP were behind the assault as he was working for the Congress in that area.
