Coast Guard Karnataka celebrated its 42nd Raising Day on Thursday at its headquarters in Mangaluru with a ceremonial function.
Mangaluru North MLA B.A. Mohiuddin Bava was the chief guest at the function that was packed with cultural programmes, featuring five classical dances from different parts of the country.
Mr. Bava along with Karnataka Coast Guard Commander DIG S.S. Dasila and junior-most officer Neha Barange cut the cake.

A release from the Coast Guard here said Karnataka with 320-km coastline requires continuous vigilance by the peacetime security force because of the movement of merchant vessels, fishing vessels, etc. Coast Guard Karnataka has taken many steps to safeguard the State’s maritime borders. One advance offshore patrol vessel Shoor, four fast patrol vessels, two hovercrafts, Coast Guard Air Enclave Mangaluru, two Interceptor Boats and two Interceptor Craft are engaged in the safety and security of coastal Karnataka.
It is also persistently teaming up with other stakeholders like Indian Navy, Coastal Security Police, State Police, State and District Administration, Customs, New Mangalore Port Trust, Karwar Port, Old Mangalore Port, CISF, industrial units etc for inter-agency support, exercises and information sharing.
It said the connection with coastal populace and fishermen of Karnataka has built mutual confidence. The fishing community has also been reciprocating as ‘eyes and ears’ for Coast Guard at sea by providing inputs.
