Three students from Mangalore colleges, who are among the top five rank holders in engineering and medicine streams in the Common Entrance Test, have welcomed initiative of the State government to reimburse course fees for the top five rank holders if they join colleges in the State.
“It will encourage many students to go for the CET,” said Medha N. Rao, a student of Expert PU College, the second rank holder.
Sachin Krishnaraj K. the Canara PU College student of who came fourth in the medical stream, and Sahan Alva, a student of Expert PU College, who came fourth in the engineering stream, said the government’s initiative to reimburse fees will attract more talented people to engineering and medical fields.

Sachin Krishna Raj K., a native of Kasaragod, said he was now preparing for the All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences Entrance Exam scheduled on June 1. This will be followed by the Joint Entrance Examination Advanced scheduled on June 2. Mr. Raj has been ranked 4 and 1 in the entrance examination by the Manipal University for admission to MBBS and BDS courses.
Mr. Alva said he wanted to pursue career in the field of electronics. He was also preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination Advanced on June 1.
He will write the entrance examination by BITS, Pilani. “Writing entrance examinations helps. If you fare poorly in one, you can do well in the next,” he said.
