Cattle electrocuted, houses damaged in rain

Udupi receives 36.85 mm rainfall

As many as four head of cattle were electrocuted, while three houses were damaged due to rain in Udupi district on Monday.

Electrocution

According to the Udupi taluk office, four head of cattle belonging to Ramesh K. in Baje village were electrocuted due to a short circuit in the cow shed. The loss due has been estimated at Rs. 70,000.

According to the Kundapur taluk office, a portion of a house and shop belonging to Srinivas Devadiga was damaged due to rain in Thekkatte village, and the loss was estimated at Rs. 20,000.

Damage

Bhaskar Bhandary’s house was damaged when a tree fell on it at Hosur village. The loss had been estimated at Rs. 12,000.

A house belonging to Chennamma was partially damaged in Uppunda village and the loss was estimated at Rs. 3,000.

According to the Control Room at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Udupi received rainfall of 36.85 mm in the last 24 hours, ending at 8.30 a.m. on Monday. Kundapur and Karkala towns received rainfall of 26.04 mm and 51.5 mm, respectively.
