The competitive examination training centre of Karnataka State Open University would offer training for recruitment to officers and assistants in various banks. Those interested may register with the University at Mysore. For details, call 0821-251944.

‘Obtain RuPay cards’

Those who have opened savings bank accounts with various banks under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana in the district have been urged to obtain RuPay cards from their respective banks. Account holders have to use the card at least once in a month to keep the account active and be eligible for the Rs. 1 lakh accident insurance cover.

Workshop on consumer protection

SDM Law College has organised a four-day professional development workshop on consumer protection in an age of market economy and globalisation from January 12 at the college premises. The workshop trains participants to use consumer law more effectively for reaching justice to the common man. Eminent lawyers and social activists, including Clark D. Cunningham from the USA and others would be the resource persons. The programme would be inaugurated by N.R. Madhava Menon, course director and R. Venkat Rao, Vice Chancellor, National Law of India University, Bengaluru, on January 12 at 10 a.m.

Following directions from the district administration, LPG consumers’ connect meet would be conducted at various distributors’ premises to redress grievances during the week. On Monday, the meet will be conducted at Chouta Gas Agency, Chouta Building, Farangipet, at 11 a.m.; on Tuesday at Karavali Gas Distributors, Bikarnakatte, Kulashekara at 11 a.m. and on Saturday at Tirumala Indane Gas Agency, Nehru Bhavana, KIOCL Layout, Kulur, at 11 a.m.
