Minister of State for Medical Education Sharanprakash Patil on Saturday asked young medical graduates to come forward to work in rural areas and help the government provide quality health services to the needy.
Addressing the new batch of medical graduates at the graduation day of A.J. Institute of Medical Sciences here on Saturday, he said that despite having 50 medical colleges in the State there were not enough doctors providing services at government hospitals, more so the primary health centres. Mr. Patil said one year compulsory rural service had been made mandatory with an intention to improve the medial services in rural areas.
He honoured rank holders and those who excelled in other academic activities and sports. Chandini Bhandary was given the gold medal for being the best outgoing student.
