Actor Vinod Alva accused of plotting murder

Actor Vinod Alva on Monday was questioned by the Puttur police in connection with a complaint accusing him of planning a murder.

In a complaint filed before the Puttur police, Sachhidananda, a resident of Paduvannoor village near Eshwarmangala in Puttur taluk, has accused the actor of hatching a conspiracy to murder him.

In his compliant filed on Monday, Sachhidananda said that he had been handling matters related to Vinod Alva for the last few years at Eshwarmangala. On March 7, he discontinued from that work and filed a case before the local court seeking remuneration for the services he had rendered.

Sachhidananda said that on Sunday he left on his motorcycle with a villager on the pillion to buy milk from near a madrasa. Near Hanumagiri in Eshwarmagala, his vehicle was hit by a van driven by Uday Chikkittaya. He has accused Uday Chikkittaya of causing the accident at the behest of the actor.

“We are questioning Vinod Alva,” said Superintendent of Police Sharanappa S.D.

Two arrested

In another development, the Mangaluru police have arrested Ravi (30), who is said to be working with Vinod Alva, and Taranath in connection with a theft at the house of M. Radha in Kavoor police station limits on July 11 and July 12.

Police Commissioner S. Murugan said that Ravi and Taranath had threatened Radha and had taken away three mobile phones, a gold chain and Rs. 35,000 in cash from her. Mr. Murugan said the two had planned to attack a few more people.
