The Kho-Kho match between the Government Pre University College, Puttur and the St. Joseph School, Bajpe, had all the exciting elements you look for in a sport.
This semi-final clash in the Under-17 category summed up the scene at the District-Level Kho-Kho tournament organised at the Sacred Hearts School in Kulshekara on Friday.
Around 25 teams, who were adjudged winners in the taluk-level event, participated in the tournament held separately for the Under-17 and Under-14 categories.

The intensely-fought match showcased the young talents who showed good speed and endurance. The Puttur team seemed slightly superior in their skills and for all the right reasons went on to win the match.
St. Joseph School team started well in the first seven minutes of the match when they bagged points by catching four runners of the opponent team. The Puttur team was not happy with two decisions that went in favour of the St. Joseph team. The next seven minutes saw the Puttur team excel. The team captained by Harshit trapped opponents skilfully and were quick on their feet and in dives.
At one point the Bajpe school coach objected to the way a Puttur team member forcefully touched opponent to garner a point. A comment made by Bajpe school coach on a Puttur team player was strongly objected by the Puttur school coach. This episode led the Bajpe school team not getting points in the second half. In the Under-14 category another Puttur team prevailed. Government Primary School Neranki in Puttur defeated Capitanio Higher Primary School in the semi-final match and winning point came in the last minute of the half-hour match.

Wilma, a class 9 student from Holy High School Bajpe, despite being chased continuously all through the seven minutes of the second half, held on and denied any point to the Government High School Nayanadu.
