A youth who was admitted to the Wenlock Hospital in Mangalore in a critical condition after an overdose of tablets on a private bus from Nelamangala to Kundapur on Wednesday, died at the hospital on Thursday.
According to the Kundapur police, the youth was identified as K.M. Manjunath, a resident of Ketenahalli village in Chickballapur taluk.
He may be aged 19 or 20.

Manjunath and a girl aged about 17 boarded a private bus from Nelamangala at 10.30 p.m. on Tuesday. Their seat numbers were 21 and 22. According to the bus tickets bought by them, they were supposed to get off at Brahmavar.
But they were found sleeping even after the bus reached Kundapur in the morning on Wednesday. The personnel of the bus tried to wake them up.
Manjunath, who woke up, collapsed soon after he got off the bus. The girl was in a critical condition. Both were rushed to the government hospital in Kundapur.

The doctor pronounced the girl dead. Manjunath, who too was in a critical condition, was shifted to the Wenlock Hospital in Mangalore on Wednesday.
The clothes and other items belonging to the girl and Manjunath were found thrown about in their seats. There was a packet of tablets and an aluminium tin. They were depressed for some reason and took an overdose of tablets and attempted to commit suicide, the police said.
The girl was a student of first year PUC, while Manjunath, who had completed his second year PUC, was working in a pharmacy.
It is suspected that the boy and the girl might have been in love. A case of unnatural death has been registered at the Kundapur police station. Further investigation is on, the police said.
