Two persons were arrested on the charge of raping a 16-year-old in a village in Punjalkatte police station limits. One of the accused is a distant relative of the victim.
According to the police, the girl was picked up by her 30-year-old relative in his autorickshaw on the pretext of dropping her to her house on Tuesday afternoon. He then picked up his friend. The girl was taken to a secluded place in Venoor and raped. She returned home late of Tuesday night.
The police said that the victim informed her parents about it on Wednesday and a complaint was filed. Superintendent of Police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase said that the two persons had been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
