Remain in party, we can fight together, Poojary tells Krishna

While blaming the Congress high command for not making efforts to assuage the feelings of the former Chief Minister S.M. Krishna, senior Congress leader B. Janardhana Poojary on Monday asked Mr. Krishna to reconsider his decision and remain in the party and help improve its government’s performance in the State.

Talking to presspersons here, Mr. Poojary said that he was saddened by Mr. Krishna’s exit from the party.

“Mr. Krishna has contributed a lot for the party and its development I am worried over the impact of this development on the party,” he said.

Mr. Poojary blamed the party high command for not assuaging the feelings of Mr. Krishna that he has been sidelined.

The party needs to change its functioning to prevent its downfall, he said.

However, Mr. Poojary said that he was not happy with Mr. Krishna’s hurried decision to quit the party. Mr. Krishna should have followed party president Sonia Gandhi’s advice and should have waited for a while.

“Time is not lost and Mr. Krishna can still return to the party,” Mr. Poojary said.

He asked Mr. Krishna not to join any other party, which would spoil his political career.

Senior party leaders like Mr. Krishna, Jaffer Sharief and Prakash Hukkeri can join hands with him in his fight to rein in the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in the State that was acting against the party’s principles, he said.
