New DC promises transparency

Subodh Yadav took over as the 121st Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada on Saturday.

Mr. Yadav took charge from Additional Deputy Commissioner S.A. Prabhakar Sharma.

A 1999 batch IAS officer, Mr. Yadav was Secretary to Union Law Minister M. Veerappa Moily in New Delhi.

The new Deputy Commissioner told presspersons that he would like to continue the “good work” done in the area of e-governance and computerisation in the district by his predecessor V. Ponnuraj. About the violation of building byelaws, Mr. Yadav said: “It will be my endeavour to provide transparent and honest administration.”

Mr. Yadav, who was the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat chief executive officer in 2004-05, said: “The city has a changed a lot in these few years.

There has been a lot of development. There were no concrete roads when I was here.”

Born in August 1972 in Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Yadav holds an M. Tech degree.

He started his career as the Assistant Commissioner of Sakleshpur taluk in Hassan district.

His next posting was as the Deputy Commissioner of the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (now ‘Bruhat' Bangalore Mahanagara Palike).

Mr. Yadav served as chief executive officer of Gulbarga and Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayats before being the Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu.

He was the first Deputy Commissioner of Chickballapur district and then moved to Gadag in the same capacity before being deputed to New Delhi to work with Mr. Moily.
