New Additional GM for Southern Railway

P.K. Mishra assumed charge as Additional General Manager of Southern Railway, Chennai, on Friday.

Mr. Mishra, a postgraduate from IIT-Madras, belongs to the 1980 batch of Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE). Prior to his appointment, he was the Chief Administrative Officer (Construction) with the SR, said an official release here.

He has served Railways in various capacities in Southern, South Western and North East Frontier Railway zones. Mr. Mishra had also served as Divisional Railway Manager of Chennai Division, Chief Track Engineer and Chief Planning and Development Engineer. He had also held the post of Dean, Indian Railway Institute of Civil Engineering, Pune.

During his 34 years of service, Mr. Mishra has executed several important capacity-augmentation projects for Southern Railway, especially, the Chennai Beach-Tambaram Gauge Conversion Project, which was completed in a record period of 4 months.

As a civil engineer, he has been associated with construction of bridges across the Brahmaputra, the Ganga, and the Kaveri.
