The latest version has been published in the Gazette

The Government has issued a Gazette notification making amendments to the zonal regulations of the Master Plan (Revision II) for the Mangalore local planning area, according to Mayor Rajani Dugganna.

Addressing presspersons here on Monday, the Mayor said that the notification had been published in the Gazette of June 1. People could file objections or suggestions within 30 days. The Mangalore City Corporation received a copy of the notification on Monday, she said. Objections or suggestions should be addressed to the Secretary, Department of Urban Development, Vikasa Soudha, Bangalore 560001, she added.

The Government approved the master plan prepared by the Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) on September 10, 2009. Councillors in the corporation had opposed certain provisions in the plan as they were preventing people owning small sites from building houses. Certain provisions in the zonal regulations were also sought to be amended. Hence, Minister in-charge of Dakshina Kannada J. Krishna Palemar had convened a meeting of officials and select elected representatives to suggest amendments. Following this, the MUDA had sent the revised master plan to the Government for approval.

Five workers had been deputed to each of the 60 wards for removing silt from storm-water drains. A vehicle had been provided to two wards each to help them in this regard.
