Free parking at 26 places

Paid parking will be provided at 10 places in Udupi city, free parking at 26 places and speed limits have been fixed on all roads, according to a notification issued here on Wednesday by the district administration. All these measures have come into force with immediate effect.

In a press release issued here, Deputy Commissioner P. Hemalatha said that these measures had become necessary since vehicular density in the city had increased significantly. There will be paid parking for these vehicles at the following 10 places: 25 light motor vehicles from Hanuman Circle to Government Maternity Hospital (left side); 25 light motor vehicles from Super Bazaar to Church Gate; 50 two-wheelers from taluk panchayat office to Jodukatte; Five light motor vehicles near ICICI Bank, opposite taluk panchayat; 20 two-wheelers from Pai Electronics near Lions Circle to Court Cross Road; five light motor vehicles and 25 two-wheelers from Hanuman Circle to Adarsha Hospital Road; five light motor vehicles and 10 two-wheelers near Board High School Compound; 25 two-wheelers in front of Visvesvaraya Market; five light motor vehicles and 25 two-wheelers on the land near R.K. Textiles (City Bus-Stand area); five light motor vehicles and 25 two-wheelers on the main fish market road.

Free parking facility will be available in 26 designated spots in the city. The stretch in front of Sadananda Towers, passing close to the City Bus-Stand and Airodikars Circle and culminating at the Service Bus-Stand, has been made one-way.
