However, with the exception of Kote, a village in Udupi district, preliminary notices have been served on the other 63 villages.

Meanwhile, the NHAI here has written to the Assistant Commissioner of Mangalore subdivision and the competent authority that it would not be immediately possible to prepare a fresh detailed project report (DPR) for widening the highway.

Earlier, the Assistant Commissioner had requested for a fresh DPR since the State Government wanted the width of the highway to be reduced to 45 m in urban areas.

In its letter to the Assistant Commissioner, the NHAI had said that the DPR had been prepared in accordance with the directions of the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
