False news creates panic

A false news aired by some television channels, including a national channel, on Saturday night that a flight at Mangalore Airport had caught fire, created panic among several people here.

A channel had even announced that 131 passengers in the flight were feared dead.

The Hindu over phone on Sunday, Director of the airport M.R. Vasudeva said that there was a fire alarm at the terminal building when the flight was moving from the parking stand to the runway.

Later, it was found to be a false alarm.
