Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA, said on Saturday that as many as 30 government buses, provided under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM), would be introduced in Udupi city in February, 2014. He was speaking at an interaction programme ‘Jago Shasak Jago’ organized by the Udupi Consumers’ Forum, here.
Mr. Madhwaraj said that these would be low-floor busesand it would be easier for senior citizens to board them. He had already held a meeting with private city bus operators and informed them about it, so that they would not pose any hurdles to the introduction of these buses.
As a precautionary measure, he had asked the Deputy Commissioner M.T. Reju and Regional Transport Officer Arun Kumar Singh to study the issue from all angles so that no one approached the courts to get a stay.

A footpath would be constructed from Bannanje to Kadiyali in the city. But priority was being to the construction of roads in areas which did not have roads in Udupi Assembly constituency.
A modern Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Bus Stand would be constructed at the three acre land at Bannanje in the city. This work would be taken up once the land with the Public Works Department was handed over to the KSRTC, he said.

B. Bhaskar, columnist, said that some lands had been reserved for the green belt at many places in the district without the knowledge of the people living there. There was also stray dog menace in Beedinagudde area, he said.
Mr. Madhwaraj said that the green belts proposed were a part of the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) of the district.
He would urge the Government to revise the CDP. The CMC was conducting sterilisation operations on dogs to check their numbers, he said.
