19-year-old youth found dead in the Nethravathi

The body of a 19-year-old college student from Bengaluru was found in the Nethravathi near Dharmasthala on Sunday evening.

Based on the college identity card, the police have identified the deceased as Madhu, son of Raje Gowda, a resident of Nagarbhavi and a student of Global Academy of Technology.

The police have learnt that Madhu went missing since March 23 when he went to college and did not return. His parents had filed a complaint with the Jnanabharathi police.

A case of unnatural death has been registered and the police are investigating.

Ritesh (29), a resident of Nekkilagudde, Derebail-Konchady in the city, was hacked to death allegedly by Prabhakar Bangera and his friends on Sunday night in Kavoor police limits.

Lohit, a friend of Ritesh, told the police in his complaint that they were returning to their houses after attending a religious programme at Malemar Nekkilagudde at around 1 a.m. Soon, Prabhakar, an acquaintance of Ritesh along with his friends, confronted Ritesh over some financial matter.

A quarrel ensued after which Bangera and his friends allegedly attacked Ritesh and his friends with sharp weapons. While Ritesh died on the spot, Lohit and two other friends received injuries.
