Woman relieved of 15-sovereign gold chain in Vandiyur

A three-member gang snatched a gold chain weighing 15 sovereigns from an old woman at Vandiyur on Wednesday night.

Police said that the victim, R. Indumathi (54), of Kavibharathiar Street was an unlicensed homeopathy practitioner. On Tuesday, two persons in their twenties had gone to her house seeking treatment for stomach ache. The duo, along with another man, visited her the following morning also on the pretext that the third person was suffering from fever.

Suddenly the three of them pushed her down and snatched away her gold thali chain and fled from the spot.

The victim lodged a complaint with the Karuppayoorani police who have registered a case.
