The Western Ghats and areas closer to the hilly region experienced precipitation resulting in significant increase in flow of water into reservoirs.

The level in the Papanasam dam on Thursday stood at 35.50 feet (permissible level is 143 feet). The dam had an influx of 643.63 cusecs of water and 25 cusecs was discharged. The level of Manimuthar dam stood at 58.15 feet (118 feet). The dam had an inflow of 109 cusecs and 275 cusecs was discharged.
