An emergency meeting was convened in Madurai Kamaraj University here on Saturday to investigate into how over 250 answer sheets of the university were found in a container box at a granite quarry at Idayapatti near here.
The blank answer sheets of MKU were found in a secret chamber during a survey done with the help of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle of Anna University at the granite blocks on Friday.
The examinations wing and general section of the university held a meeting to trace out the source. Upon enquiry, it was found that the answer sheets were originally given to S.P. College of Arts and Science at Karuppayurani on Sivaganga Road in the year 2010 for examination purpose.

“This particular college was then an affiliated college of MKU. Later in the year 2011, this college was taken over by P.R.P.Granite Company and this was confirmed to us on Saturday by the former chairman of the college Chakravarthy. The college is now defunct and is not functioning.
The answer sheets which were not returned to the university after conducting the examinations were now found at the granite quarry,” K. Pitchumani, Registrar in-charge, MKU, said in a press statement.
Meanwhile, the university Vice-Chancellor Kalyani Mathivanan told “The Hindu” that she was ‘puzzled’ on how MKU answer scripts could get into a granite quarry and immediately asked the examinations disciplinary committee to look into the matter.

“The genuineness of answer sheets can be traced through serial numbers and to which college they were given. We have a very good examinations wing and they got into the job straightaway,” the Vice-Chancellor said when contacted.
