Vaiko promises good governance

April 18, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - MADURAI:

Condemning the AIADMK and DMK for ruining the State, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary and People’s Welfare Front coordinator Vaiko said that they would give clean governance, if elected.

Canvassing votes for PWF alliance candidates at Obulapadithurai here on Sunday, he said that if voters failed to show the door to the AIADMK and DMK, the future would be bleak for the next generation, as the two parties would not bring in prohibition.

Granite industry in Madurai had been shut for about three years now, leading to unemployment. There were irregularities in sand mining as well. The PWF, if elected, would cleanse the system and create job opportunities again. While not failing to attack DMK leader Karunanidhi for his wrongdoings in public life, in an emotional tone, Mr. Vaiko, again apologised for his recent derogatory remarks made against him.

Mr. Vaiko said that he was concerned about the environment and which prompted him to approach the High Court Bench here in connection with the neutrino project, which was planned by the Union government at a cost of Rs. 2,400 crore. “In public interest and based on my arguments, the court granted stay. Whether in power or not, I have always stood for the people. Why didn’t the Chief Minister raise her voice on such issues. Why didn’t the DMK president object to the setting up of the neutrino project,” he asked.
