In the other incident, S. Narayanan (30), a construction worker from Sukkampatti near Madurai died in a drunken brawl with his neighbours near Kottampatti.

Police said Narayanan and his friends had consumed liquor on the way back home from work. When his friend, P. Rajendran, went home drunk, his wife scolded him. His parents complained that he had taken to drinking only because of Narayanan.

When Narayanan came there Mr. Rajendran’s parents picked up a quarrel with him.
