Accusing writer Jayamohan of having verbally abused and assaulted a grocery shop owner and his wife on June 14, Tamil Nadu Vanigar Sangangalin Peravai has appealed to Kanniyakumari Superintendent of Police N. Sreenath to register a case against him.

In a petition submitted to the SP on Monday, the traders, led by Peravai district president Davidson, said Mr. Jayamohan, who bought two packets of dosa batter from a grocery shop near his house at Parvathipuram here, returned after some time stating that the batter was sour. When this issue triggered altercation between grocery shop owner Selvam’s wife and the writer, the latter assaulted Mr. Selvam and his wife and verbally abused them.

“Though dosa batter turning sour is quite natural, the writer behaved in an immature fashion, and verbally abused and assaulted the shop owner and his wife. They are under treatment. The police, who registered a case against Mr. Selvam, refused to entertain the complaint preferred by him against Mr. Jayamohan. The SP should instruct the police to register a case against Mr. Jayamohan too,” Mr. Davidson said.
