TNPSC Group II examswitness 73% attendance

TNPSC Group II exam under way at a centre in Madurai on Sunday.

Madurai district witnessed a turnout of 73% of registered candidates in the examinations conducted for Group II services by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission across the State on Sunday.

Officials said that while 34,476 candidates had registered to appear for the exam, only 25,419 candidates took part.

The examination was conducted in 126 centres spread across Madurai North, Madurai South, Melur, Tirumangalam and Usilampatti taluks with the deployment of invigilators and flying squads. Police were deployed in all the centres and for the transportation of question papers and answer sheets. TANGEDCO was asked to ensure uninterrupted power supply in areas where centres were located.

Apart from basic amenities such as toilets and drinking water, special arrangements were made for physically challenged people for easy access. Scribes were arranged for those physically challenged persons who needed assistance to write the exam.

Special buses were operated by Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation from key points in the district to the examination centres. Collector S. Natarajan visited few centres in the city and inspected the arrangements made there.
