Theatres become operational in GRH

A newly inaugurated operation theatre at the Super Speciality Block of Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai.

Three operation theatres began to function at the Government Rajaji Hospital here on Monday. They are part of the newly inaugurated Super Speciality block.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Madurai, inaugurated the block under the Prime Minister Swasthya Suraksha Yojana.

This 320-bedded facility began its operation in January with only out-patient consultation. The inauguration of the theatres specifically for Surgical Gastroenterology, Urology and Neurology would serve patients with high-end treatment facilities, said GRH Dean K. Vanitha.

She said that six departments had already shifted to the new building but more would be moved soon. “RO water and haemodialysis facilities are yet to be installed but they are well under way,” she said.
