Traffic diversion for Thaipusam festival from today

All vehicles bound for Palani from Dindigul and nearby districts will be diverted through alternative routes between January 29 and February 2 for the safety of pilgrims visiting Palani for Thaipusam festival.

A police press release on Sunday said that all heavy vehicles going to Palani through Oddanchatram and vehicles going to Oddanchatram from Sempatti through Moolacham will have to pass through Dindigul Bypass Road, Thadikombu, Idayakottai, Kallimandhayam and Thoppampatti.

Vehicles coming to Dindigul from Coimbatore will be diverted through Thalaiyam Four Road, Keeranur, Thopopampatti, Kallimandhayam, Idayakottai and Thadikombu.

Heavy vehicles going to Oddanchatram from Madurai will be diverted through Pandiarajapuram, Kamalapuram Pass, Chinnalapatti, Thomaiyarpuram, Dindigul Bypass, Thadikombu and Idayakottai.

However, light commercial vehicles passing through Dindigul and Sempatti will use regular route up to Oddanchatram and pass through Ambillikai and Kallikandhayam to reach Palani.

The Palani Highway will be converted into one way between Oddanchatram and Palani on January 30 and 31. All vehicles will be diverted at Oddancahtram and pass through Kallimandhayam and Thoppampatti to reach Palani. However, vehicles coming to Oddancahtram from Palani will pass through Ayakudi and Chatrapatti. However, town buses will be operated in regular routes.

Vehicles coming to Palani through Kallimandhayam will be diverted through New Dharapuram Road, Government Girls HSS, TANGEDCO office junction, Sakthi marriage hall, farmers’ market and reach temporary bus stand in Government Boys HSS in Palani. All buses coming out of the temporary bus stand will pass through Sri Rana Kaliamman Temple junction, Thoppampatti, Kallimandhayam and Oddanchatram.

All VIP vehicles will go to Palani via Ayakudi and pass through Tank Road, Thiruavinangudi and Aruljothi Street to reach Goshala car parking area and Karthik School parking zone.

Buses coming to Palani from Coimbatore will reach the regular bus stand through Balaji Mill junction, Itteri Road, Om Shanmuga Theatre junction, Sri Ranakaliamman Temple junction, New Dharapuram Road roundtana and reach regular bus stand. Similarly, all buses bound for Coimbatore will pass through Kulathumedu, New Dharapuram Roundtana, Sri Ranakaliamman temple junction Sami theatre junction Karamadai and Shanmuga Nadhi.

Buses coming from Salem, Tirupur, Dharapurm will cross Om Shanmuga Theatre Sri Ranakaliamman temple junction New Dharapuram Road, Kulathumedu and reach regular bus stand. All buses returning to these destinations will have to follow the same route.

All pilgrims’ vehicles coming from Coimbatore will pass through Shanmuga River bypass, Balasamudram bypass road, Kodaikanal Road pass, Idumban temple, Ittery Road and reach Devasthanam bus stand. Pilgrims’ vehicles from Oddanchatram will go through Sivagiripatti and reach parking place on the APA College campus.

Vehicles from Dharapuram will be diverted via Om Shanmuga Theatre, Girls HSS, Periyar statue junction, ESI junction and reach AP College.

On their return journey, they should go through Sivagiripatti, Kodaikanal by pass, Balasamudram by pass, Balaji Mill and Dharapuram Road to Dharapuram.

All trucks and lorries from Coimbatore will be diverted at Thalayam, Kozhumam Kongan, Keeranur, Thoppampatti, Kallimandhayam and Vehicles from Dharapuram will be diverted at Thoppampatti. Violators will be punished.
