Teachers were exposed to new learning platforms at a faculty development programme on ‘Online teaching, learning and assessment using MOOC platform, open educational resources and educational technology tools,’ organised by the Quality Assurance Cell of Mannar Thirumalai Naicker College here on October 23 and 24.

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) was a learner-centric resource for teaching on-site and off-site learners, using synchronous and asynchronous teacher-learner interactions to deliver high quality learning to large numbers, said K. Srinivas, Professor of ICT, National University of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi, the resource person. Forty-two teachers participated in the programme.

The workshop focused on capacity building for the faculty to design, transact, assess and deliver courses online in different disciplines with open educational resources using constructivist pedagogy based on MOOC platform.
