Suspended SI discharged in Madurai

Suspended Sub-Inspector of Police A. Kalidass, who was allegedly injured in a scuffle at S.P. Pattinam police station in Ramanathapuram district on October 14, was discharged from Government Rajaji Hospital here on Wednesday.

The SI was suspended after he shot down one K. Syed Mohammed following a reported scuffle at the station.

The deceased had been taken to the police station for questioning in an attempt-to-murder case.

However, while interrogating, the deceased had allegedly stabbed the SI with a knife, following which he opened three rounds from his service revolver.

Kalidass was admitted to the special ward at the GRH.

Officials of the Crime Branch – Criminal Investigation Department, to whom the case was subsequently transferred, had questioned him at the hospital.
