Stress on handwash

About 2,000 students of Sitalakshmi Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Tirunagar, were exposed to the advantages of washing hands regularly at an awareness session on hand sanitisation and handwash campaign organised by the Madurai chapter of Young Indians on Monday.

The students were explained why they should develop the habit of keeping their hands clean to avoid getting sick and the spread of germs. The session, conducted as part of Swachch Bharat Abhiyan, highlighted infectious diseases through contaminated hands. K. Hari Thiagarajan, chairman, YI Madurai chapter, stressed that self-cleanliness would take people forward in keeping their surroundings clean.

M. Kavitha, consultant neurologist, spoke on the importance and advantages of handwashing. Handwash dispensers were distributed to the students, according to a release.
