Six held on murder charge

Six persons were arrested for allegedly murdering a construction worker Duraipandian on Friday.

The police said A. Navaneethakrishnan (27) of Thaazaiyooththu, E. Paul Mayandi (23) of Gangaikondan, T. Arthur alias Arthur Kumar (22) of Thaazhaiyooththu, P. Ganesan (31), K. Ambi alias Poolpandi (31) and E. Thangam alias Karuppasamy (28), all from Ram Nagar here, were picked up for interrogation immediately after the murder.

They told the police Duraipandian, who was allegedly involved in the murder of one Siva recently, was planning to kill Siva’s relatives Navaneethakrishnan and Paul Mayandi. To foil it and protect themselves, the duo, along with his associates, murdered Duraipandian, the police said.
